No, Ms. Reid, "$2,000 Checks" Are Just Modern Bread & Circuses

I usually do not write about things said in the media, after all, it is most often low hanging fruit and rarely generates any readership, but this time, I just cannot help it. I admit it, I am not only flummoxed, but I am genuinely astonished at the recent statements made by Joy Reid with regards to Biden's low approval numbers.

For the record, Reid stated, "There are also a lot of Americans who despite having gotten the shots and checks are still telling pollsters that he is accomplished nothing or almost nothing, which I find amazing. I guess they spent the whole $2,000 and now they're not happy anymore."

So, let me see if I understand this properly. President Biden handed out checks, they were $1,400 checks and not $2,000 as Ms. Reid prosits, gave out the shots that Trump fast tracked (and Reid decried as ineffective), screwed up the information and narrative control so badly that more than 40% of the country is refusing to take them, increased taxes, closed businesses, and tanked the economy, and she wonders why people are upset with him?

Wow, one would have to be a partisan hack of epic proportions to make such an absurd statement. Oh wait, that is right, the shoe fits.

She later came out and produced an advertisement based on other comments she made where she said:

“It reminded a lot of people of something … Oh, the Brett Kavanaugh hearing. He cried his way through the hearings becoming a permanent member and associate justice of the Supreme Court. And his tears turned out to be more powerful than the tears of Christine Blasey Ford.

But in America, there’s a thing about both white vigilantism and white tears, particularly male white tears. Really white tears in general, because, that’s what Karens are, right? They can Karen out and then as soon as they get caught, bring waterworks."

Wow, just stunning. Where in the world do you even begin to go with that.

You see, these statements from Ms. Reid are a big part of why Joe Biden's ratings are in the tank. The fact is that he is the leader of a party which supports critical race theory, COVID lockdowns, government overreach, expanded taxation, business shutdowns, and not just a disruption, but a complete fundamental change to our way of life is why his ratings are in the tank.

America is a center right nation, not far left. History has proven that time and time and time again.

But the real point behind it all is that these things were done by the Biden Administration as a modern adaptation of the latter Roman practice of "Bread and Circuses." In other words, give people just enough to subsist and offer them entertainment to distract them from what they could have, and you can quell the mob.

Well, thankfully a great number of Americans appear to be seeing though that.

That is a great thing, since that is what ultimately lead to the apathy that destroyed Rome.

You see, when the Roman citizens stopped believing the in the "Glory of Rome," they stopped caring. It all became about them and what they could get or achieve. They stopped believing that they were a part of something greater and that their contributions to that greater whole mattered. That is where we find ourselves today in America. You can substitute America for Rome in the above, and it still fits.

So, what is left for the government to do? Well the answer is simple: Bread and Circuses, or in our case, free money and witch hunts (or demonizations, take your pick).

And that is truly what Ms. Reid is angry about, the people are not giving the proper response to these "handouts." They are not bowing with the proper respect to the crumbs being thrown at them from the king's table. The emperor has "declared 100 days of games and free bread to all people," and they have not yet bowed in humble adoration at his benevolence.

I guess she does not understand that that is not what American's truly want.

We do not want handouts. We do not want to subsist "by the graces of the crown."

We want to be free, to all have the ability to win or lose on our own. That is what Americans crave more than anything, freedom.

So no, Ms. Reid, "bread and circuses for the masses" will not cut it. They are not accomplishments. They are prison bars, and we see through it and reject it.

If that upsets you, oh well.

Perhaps you should go get your helping of it...

Oh wait, you see yourself as one of those above the masses.

Right, now your opinion makes a lot more sense.
